Our birthdays are coming up — Lurko’s on Friday and mine on Saturday. Most years we throw a party, and Lurko grills a bunch of meat, and everyone brings food or beer which we keep in the fridge.

This year…well….

The house is not ready for a party yet. It’s got some good potential, but first we need enough power to run the fridge, and some more fans.

This post explains more about our power situation. Bottom line, we can’t have people over until this gets fixed, so no big party this year.

But, we will make the most of what we do have, so we made a reservation at my dad’s restaurant, KM5 Surf Bar. If you’re in town Friday at 7pm and want to come by, we’d love to see you!

If you want to get us a birthday present, our friends set up a GoFundMe to help us get power. We’ve been trying to save up to do this ourselves, but no summer work plus an unexpected medical issue wiped out our savings. And now, it’s hot. If we had more power, we could run the refrigerator 24/7 and run the AC longer than 4 hours a day.

So that’s all we want for our birthdays this year. And by this time next year, we should be back on our feet and we can have the traditional birthday party at our house. This Friday, Surf Bar it is. It’s a nice restaurant with a rooftop bar, and they make a great burger with blue cheese. We’ll post pictures so you can be with us virtually. See y’all there!
