Not counting the day we drove from Austin to Laredo, we did this drive in two days. That now seems hard to believe, but the tiny trailer was not hard to pull at all– even in the rain. We started in Aguascalientes and traveled west, stopping in my old stomping grounds in Guadalajara for lunch. There was a lot less rain during this part and we got some nice photos.
Tacos Minerva! If you zoom in you can see Minerva behind me. It was a quick photo because we were parked very illegally. Better photo here (not mine). The dogs each got a taco de bistec, and we got tacos al pastor y arrachera.Blue agave as far as the eye can see. This is how you know you’re near the town of Tequila! But most of the state of Jalisco looks like this outside of Guadalajara. As we travelled further west, we started seeing Saguaro cactus. It’s a little weird to see them this far south, but they’re in here. The carretera (which was very nice) brought us at last to the beautiful state of Nayarit. In the middle, those sticky-uppy bits are more Saguaro cacti! Crazy to see these in the jungle but here we are.Our first look at what will soon be our home!We didn’t have the keys yet, so these are just outside shots.Behind me you can see the fossa (septic tank), and the white building in the back faces Highway 200.The back side of the house faces the jungle, and the rest of the hill. Our last stop was dinner at KM5 Surf Bar, my dad’s restaurant.
